Annie is an artist, art therapist, and arts educator.  She received her Masters’ of Art in Art Therapy and Counseling (MAATC) from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.  Annie applies trauma-informed approaches to counseling for individuals and couples.

There are many paths to healing, health, and well-being. I look to meet people wherever they are on their journey and walk for a while along-side them.  I collaborate with participants to plan creative solutions and positive coping behaviors in order to address a wide variety of experiences, including:  anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationships, self-esteem and self-worth, stress, symptoms related to post-traumatic stress, vicarious trauma, being in relationship with a trauma survivor, substance use/ abuse, self-care, and addressing negative coping behaviors.  I have worked extensively with survivors of sexual violence, people who have experienced domestic violence, combat Veterans, and other survivors of complex trauma.

When working with participants of therapy, I use a variety of tools, including the use of art-making as another mode of expression, mindfulness and meditation techniques, and the use of narrative therapy to facilitate the telling of one’s story (or the re-write of one’s story).
