Tom Doctor, MSW, CADC
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and am currently finishing a certificate in Sex Therapy. I use both relational psychotherapy and sex therapy. Relational psychotherapy is talk therapy which focuses on examining and strengthening relationships with oneself and others to help client(s) grow and flourish. Sex Therapy is a form of talk therapy that empowers an individual or couple to work towards achieving a fulfilled love/sex life as defined by the client(s).
My clinical experience is focused on working with individuals/couples on issues including addiction, alcoholism, substance abuse, relationship/marital conflicts, codependency, divorce, infidelity, PTSD, childhood trauma, emotional abuse, anxiety, social anxiety, depression, life transition, LGBTQ+ issues, sexual health concerns, alternative sexualities and intimacy injuries. My specialty is working with adult clients, however I have experience working with adolescents and families.
My therapeutic goal is to help my clients live authentically and intentionally. To achieve this goal, I strive to foster an affirming space to help allow my clients to openly explore their thoughts, feelings and relationships. I work with my clients to utilize their own strengths and resilience to help propel themselves forward towards achieving and surpassing their goals.
